In the 1960s, designer Ruth Young Silverman opened a fashionable boutique in Shadyside, Pittsburgh. The store quickly became a well-respected and popular destination thanks to both her eye for design as well as top grade construction. This dress dates from the early part of Young's career, and shows the expert eye which she had already cultivated. Inspired by the big French houses Dior, Balmain, and Balenciaga. The simple top, with its short sleeves and shallow scoop neckline, is elegantly patterned with a lattice of diamond panes. The skirt is a gentle ankle length A-line of textured silk, with an invisible hem. The waistline is defined with an attached belt and a tailored bow at the center front. The classic shape, geometric pattern, and feminine details on this gown make it timeless, and its vintage charm is both romantic and elegant. The perfect choice for a variety of occasions!
Vintage condition: Very Good.
