This is a stunning beaded and sequined overdress of sheer panels, with open sides. Seven large flowers are arranged on the front in silver beadwork, with abstract black sequins filling in the background. Striking sky blue panels of solid sequin-work angle down the sides of the hips and thighs. The panels are cut in a simple tank-top shape at the neckline, and are almost completely open at the sides. They fasten only at the natural waist, where they are gathered into a rosette. The shape is the loose and columnar shape of the 1920s, but the placement of the blue sequin panels evokes the shape of the hips and legs beneath and forms a flattering line. The bottom hem is beautifully cut into a shape like the edge of a flower. This is truly a breathtaking piece.
