For this collection Rei Kawakubo took apart classic girly dresses and reconstructed them with awkward seams and bandages. This symbolised how women are restrained in bondage to society's notion of what is femininity. Here the sleeves have been torn open, the wearer breaking her arms free from the blouson sleeves, yet still bound down to her dress with the elastic straps, noting western culture's obsession with defined waistlines. There is one pull in the chiffon which isn't really noteable taking in the deconstructed style of the design where fashion meets art statement.
