Franklin Simon & Co was a New York City based ladies fashion company that started in 1902 at the beginning of the golden age of department stores. It’s 5th avenue location communicated sophistication yet the company prided itself on its reasonable pricing and accessibility. The store specialized in importing European apparel, shoes, accessories and fragrances to the East Coast customer without a premium price. The store’s success due to the demand for affordable European fashion lead them to open several other locations in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Buffalo. Many remnants of their vintage styles can be found in those cities today. The company continued to offer chic womenswear throughout the early 1900’s to the I970’s when the store was forced to close its doors.
