Jo Copeland, better known for her work under the fashion label Pattullo-Jo Copeland, got her start drawing sketches. Copeland attended Parsons school for design in New York and eventually sold some of her sketches to Pattullo Modes. She designed there for several years before branching out on her own in 1930. Her speciality was on-figure styling and her aesthetic was smartly feminine. Copeland returned to Pattullo-Modes in 1938 when they made her a partner in the business and continued designing well into the 1960’s.
