Krizia was founded in 1954 by eccentric Italian designer, Mariuccia Mandelli. Krizia became a staple in Italian fashion that still stands today. At the start, the line focused on simple knitwear dresses and separates but going into the 1970’s, Krizia found its stride. A mixture of tough and sweet, Mandelli used tight nylon undershirts juxtaposed with mohair bed jackets. She mixed elegant satin skirts with sporty sweaters, giving new meaning to each garment that was contrasted. Later her use of animal prints, tiger, leopard, and even dalmatian spots, added another layer of edginess to the line.
