French-Italian fashion designer Loris Azzaro, grew up in Tunisia. In 1962 he moved to Paris to pursue his dream of creating his own line of textiles and perfumes. He began designing uniquely Parisian evening wear with a sexy twist. His dresses were daring and featured cut out designs and crystal beading all in slinky fabrics that slid over the wearers’ curves. He used brightly colored chains and wove them into shirts and dresses, adding texture and an element of sparkle. His favorite color is a bright azure blue which has has said reminds him of the Tunisian skies he gazed at as a child. Azzaro’s nighttime looks were favorite of many celebrities over his longstanding career including Nicole Kidman, Racquel Welch, Kate Winslet, and Marion Cotillard. Azzaro remained head designer of his line until his death in 2003.
