1970s Leonard of Paris Dress

$ 850.00

This is a wonderful paisley and floral dress in playful hues of orange and violet. The exuberant pattern is arranged thoughtfully and symetrically on the dress, with large motifs accenting the lines of the body underneath. By this means, the body-hiding volume in the skirt and sleeves is offset by the pattern to suggest the curves of the form, creating a wholly flattering garment. The dress is inspired by folkwear, and has the romantic sleeves, A-line skirt, and fitted waist associated with 'traditional' frocks. It has integrated the Victorian fashion for piping seams to beautiful effect, with matching lilac piping in the collar, cuffs, and hem, as well as along the sides of the bodice, extending through the shoulders. The simplicity associated with folkwear dresses is affected here, but it is an illusion belied by the wonderful attention to detail evident in the pattern placement and immaculate construction. This cheerfully-appointed dress is striking and unique, and will be a joy to wear.
